Every third Saturday of the month, the Utah Museum of Fine Arts has a free family activity day. It is so great... and free! Regularly, it would cost our family $24.The theme this last Saturday was landscapes. So, they sent us to look at the Landscape gallery. The pictures were all done during the Great Depression, in the 1930's by a local artist named LeConte Stewart. I thoroughly loved looking at his pictures. Savannah and Owen each chose their favorite landscapes for inspiration for the picture they were going to make.

| This was Owen's favorite picture-- because of the train tracks. (I took a picture of the brochure which had this picture on it-- so if that's a breach of copyrighting- ooops!) |
After we looked at the art gallery we wen into the classroom and used oil pastels to make our own landscape pictures. I got kind of addicted to those oil pastels- they were really therapeutic to draw with!!
Here are the results:
We just hung out on the front porch afterwards:
We will most definitely go back to the UMFA!!
