The Annual Back to School Celebration

This year we called our Back to School Celebration "Tools For School."

We decorated the table with tools and then played a game where they associated the tool with a "tool" or tip for succeeding in school.  Amazingly they remember the tool and it's association. I'm writing it her just in case we forget.
- The hammer reminds us to always be kind (like when a nail is stuck, the hammer pulls it out; or when a nail wants to go in, the hammer helps it).
-The  big wrench remind them that we love love them always (the wrench has a part when you put it together that looks like a hug).
-The measuring tape is a reminder that we can say long or short prayers in our minds- even at school.
-The paint brush helps us remember to work hard- just like it takes work to paint a wall just right.
-The little wrench has an "O" shaped into it, which helps us remember to Obey the teacher and the rules.
-The flashlight is a reminder to be brave(to make friends and participate in class).

After dinner we gave them each this pack of their 'school tools'.

They wanted hotdogs for dinner... not my favorite ever, but it's their night! We did dress the hotdogs up with fritos and other toppings. That made it a little better for me.  Funny how taste buds change.

If I were a fairy-mother and could give them a gift, I would wave my magic wand and make them love to learn. I hope they do anyway. A mother's wishes must be as powerful as a magic wand. I hope.
