The Story of the names...
Abigail Pauline Boyer... I kind of explained before, the reason we named Abigail, "Abigail" is first because of a special experience I had that is too personal to write about, but I knew that I would have a little girl with her name. I fell in love with the name Abigail when I was studying about her in the Old Testament. Abigail is a symbol of the Savior and one meaning of the Atonement. When I think of her, the Old Testament Abigail, I am reminded that Christ, through His Atonement, makes things right. When we are tempted to be mad or hurt because someone else has done us wrong, we can remember that the Savior's Atonement gives us everything we need- therefore we can forgive and love. He gives us all the compensating blessings we need.
Also, I am related to Abigail Adams- she is a 10th or 11th great Aunt. I think she was an amazing woman.
Pauline is Michael's beloved mom. She passed away when Michael was 21. She had fought breast cancer for 16 years, and was so admired and loved by so many people. She is known around the city of Springville for her service she selflessly gave to others.
Abby has many great legacies to learn when she thinks about her name.
Jane Elizabeth Boyer... I have an ancestor, who was the first on my dad's side to come to Zion, and settle in Cove, Utah. Her name was Emma Jane- Jane is named partly after her. Emma Jane traveled to Zion as a little girl, and she had some scary encouters on the way. She had to hide from Indians, who wanted to take her families' lives. She was brave and faithful throughout her life. I have always loved this ancestor, who my dear great-grandmother was named after- Florence Emma Comish Allen. I always wanted to name a little girl Emma after these two great ladies, but my husband just doesn't like the name :(. I guess it's a good thing though, because now I am in love with the name Jane, and she still has the legacy of these two great women- plus more.
Michael's first ancestor on his mom's side was also named Jane. She joined the church in Scotland, and then came to Zion and settled in Mendon, Utah. Where generations of Michael's family have lived.
These Jane's were trail blazers, they were pioneers. They gave all they had to come to zion, and settle with the Saints. I want Jane to know that she must also consecrate all she has to build God's kingdom like these women.
Her middle name is Elizabeth. There are also two Elizabeths. My ancestor, Elizabeth Starley, was the first person on my mom's mom's side to come to Zion. She joined the church in England, and also gave all she had to come to Utah. They settled in Fillmore, Utah.
Michael's great-grandmaother-- actually "Jane's" daughter was Elizabeth. Elzabeth Stumpf Barrett. She was also an amazing lady- with the lagacy of a great family.
I love Helaman, in the Book of Mormon who named his sons Lehi and Nephi, also after their ancestors. He explained to them the reason that he did this... "this I have done that when ye remember their names ye may remember them; and when ye remember them ye may remember their works; and when ye remember their works ye may know how that it is said, and also written, that they were good. Therefore, my sons, I would that ye should do that which is good, that it may be said of you, and also written, even as it has been said and written of them (Helaman 5:6-7)"
This is also my hope for Abigail and Jane.
I couldn't love them more.
Abigail and Jane are getting so big and so darn cute!! The pictures are adorable!!. We can't wait to see you guys!
