Our Summer - - Our Family

I have heard about blogging, read blogs, and  have planned to write a blog for years it seems.

Finally I am beginning- - in a hopeful attempt to document my family and our lives.

Here we are... from left to right
Me, Owen holding Jane, Savannah holding Abby, Michael

These are the treasures of my life.

Our summer has been different that any other we've had or will ever have.

We welcomed Abby and Jane into the world.
(Abby is on the left, Jane on the right)

After a difficult pregnancy, they were born 5 weeks early.
They stayed for 3 weeks in the Utah Valley NICU.

  daddy-- right before the c-section

Two cute girls were born on June 3, 2010
Abigail Pauline Boyer
and
Jane Elizabeth Boyer

Abby weighed 4 pound 8 ounces
Jane weighed 3 pounds 8 ounces

teeny tiny!!!!!!!!

They were hooked up to monitors that showed their breathing and heart rates.
We were so thankful that they were healthy, just tiny. They only had to learn to eat.
I never realized that eating is a skill that is learned. It is. Sometimes it's a hard skill to learn.

We worked on eating a lot! We were so happy when they would eat even one more ml.

Jane is barely bigger than Daddy's hand!

They ate through feeding tubes -attached tho their noses- while they were learning to suck, swallow, and breath-- which is the skill needed to drink a bottle.

I really hesitate to add pictures of myself-- seeing those chipmunk cheeks. But, I have to remind myself- I just had twins for goodness sakes!!! Gestational diabetes and preeclampsia also took a toll on this body of mine.

This was the first real bath!
Jane pooped in the middle of the bath- so we had to start all over!

so sleepy!

They LOVED their bath! Baby relaxation. They acted as if they were at the spa.

Daddy and Abby

Jane and Mommy

I loved these sweet moments.

Savannah with Jane and Owen with Abby
This was the first time the big brother and big sister got to hold their new baby sisters. They were thrilled.

Blessing day.. Jane, Abby
All Michael wanted for Father's day was to give these babies a name and blessing.
We did in the hospital with just Grandpa Boyer, and Grandma & Grandpa Pease.
It was a small gathering, but these babies needed their blessings.

big sister Savannah loves these babies

Abby
So- I don't know how to turn pictures the right way yet!!

GOING HOME!!!
They were both blessed to learn to eat. They both did, just days after the blessing.
We took them home on June 25th.
Instead of a half birthday- it was a half Christmas.
REALLY...

love those expressions!
excited big brother!

Owen and Jane

The sweetest moment ever-- all four of my children in the same home.

Home SWEET Home!!

We are so thankful to have these sweet new babies, and to have them home.
